My Journey: From Hobby Baker to Cake Designer

I’m Carol Ravagnani, cake designer from alice+rosa cake design.

I started as a hobby baker. At the time, I had a young baby and an unfulfilling full-time job, so I began baking just for fun – with no intention of turning it into a career.

But the more I baked for my family and friends, the more I kept hearing, “Wow, this is so good! You should sell these cakes.” And little by little, all that encouragement planted a seed in my mind. I loved baking, so… why not?

As I perfected my recipes, I gained the confidence to start charging for my cakes. It felt incredible to earn money doing something I loved. Little by little, the dream of running my own business became a reality and it was the best decision I ever made.

As a self-taught baker, I had to develop all my recipes and techniques from scratch. My journey took longer than it should have, which is why today, part of my mission is to teach my students the skills I wish I had learned much faster.

Over time, I developed a signature cake decorating style – the alice+rosa florals – that continues to inspire bakers from all over the world.
