I grew up in são paulo watching my mum work in a hospital during the day and make sweets in the evening to sell as extra income for the home. one of my most vivid memories is the smell of bala de coco, a sweet made from sugar and coconut milk, a nostalgic flavour from the 80s.
I have always been a chronic dreamer. since my teenage years, my dream was to work doing something I love. I studied business and, after years of feeling unfulfilled in office jobs, moved to london. here I had the chance to work alongside small creative studios — in fashion, jewellery, and even a glassblowing studio — which made me realise my heart was in doing something creative with my hands. I experimented with different crafts for years, but nothing quite stuck.
it was only when I became a mum that I tried baking for the first time. I made alice’s first birthday cake and it spoke to me like no other craft ever had. from day one, I was hooked.
I’m entirely self-taught. everything I know came through trial and error and, as a mother of two young girls, that meant most of the work happened at night, when alice and rosa were asleep.
alice+rosa is named after my daughters, who today are not so little — but each cake is still created with the same level of care and attention to detail as from day one. more than a cake, it’s an experience to be shared and treasured in the unique moments of life, surrounded by the people we love.
today, apart from the studio, alice+rosa has grown into a community of students in over 40 countries, where I get the opportunity to teach women who — just like I was 14 years ago — are looking to learn, grow, have fun, and find themselves through the art of baking.
at alice+rosa, we are obsessed with everything cake. from bespoke orders and pop-ups to creative courses and workshops, we believe cake is more than dessert – it is creativity, celebration, self-expression and connection. through thoughtful design, beautiful flavours and a love for the creative process, we create experiences that inspire people to make, celebrate and create.
